Gas site Tiguentourine: the return of BP and Statoil is dependent on the completion of an airstrip

Despite efforts by Algeria security , foreign oil companies, BP English and Norwegian Statoil joint venture with Sonatrach Tiguentourine have not yet redeployed employees in the gas complex.
One year after the terrorist attack , site security is always mentioned despite a considerable improvement. According to military sources , " the return of foreign BP and Statoil on the site Amenas gas is dependent on the end of the construction of an airstrip adjacent to the complex to ensure maximum security for expatriates ."

According to the same sources , " the site should be approved next month announcing the return of foreigners whose basic life will be transferred to Hassi Messaoud .

The shuttle from the airport to Hassi Messaoud and now trail Tiguentourine will be provided by aircraft . " In a statement to Maghreb Emergent , Robert Wine , responsible for communication within the British oil company British Petroleum , says that " his employer (BP) sent some people in Algeria this fall, but (...) with respect to the website in Amenas gas , no employee of BP only went .

We will not ask our employees to work Amenas unless we are confident about the security measures, but I think progress is being made . "

Side Statoil , Jannik Lindbaek , spokesman of the Norwegian group , recently told the news agency specializing in energy, Platts : "We now have 40 people present on a base in Hassi Messaoud , return to facilities production Amenas and in Salah come later . " recall that Algeria categorically refused the proposal of foreign firms to ensure the safety of their employees. The decision to build a runway , able to avoid foreigners to spend the night in Illizi , was taken after several meetings between representatives of BP , Statoil and the head of the Military District.
